Hitting out at Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over his recent statement in Maharashtra where he had said that every woman above the age of 18 was receiving Rs 1,500 per month from the government, state BJP president Rajeev Bindal said that this statement was an insult to the dignity of women in Himachal Pradesh.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, Bindal accused the Chief Minister of breaking all records of lying and said that the statement was baseless and misleading. “CM Sukhu made this false claim for political gain in Maharashtra while failing to fulfil the promise to women in Himachal, thereby betraying their trust,” said Bindal.

“Before coming to power, Congress during the 2022 Legislative Assembly elections had guaranteed that it would provide Rs 1,500 per month to the women above the age of 18 in the state. The same guarantee was reiterated during the Lok Sabha elections this year. However, two years have passed and no such payments had been made to women, while the Congress government had benefited from deceitful tactics to garner votes,” said Bindal.

Bindal further said that over the past two years, no new jobs have been created in the state and many job seekers are tired of preparing for exams. “Protests by unemployed youth and government employees in Shimla have intensified, but the government had remained indifferent to their demands,” he said.

He also accused the Congress-led state government of overburdening the public with taxes. “Despite talking about self-reliance, the state government is raising a loan of Rs 500 crore and had accumulated a debt of Rs 28,000 crore in the last two years without providing any jobs, development, or relief for the people,” Bindal said.
