Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu gives Rs 25K as Diwali gift to inmates of Balika Ashram
The state government is committed to supporting orphaned children and is continuously working for their welfare and progress, said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu during a visit to the Balika Ashram at Kalpa in Kinnaur district today. He announced a Diwali gift of Rs 25,000 for each inmate of the ashram and also presented track suits to them.
The Chief Minister said that all orphans in the state were being recognised as ‘children of the state’. He added that these children were now the responsibility of the government, which would bear all their educational and other essential expenses.
He said, “Himachal is the first state in the country to enact laws aimed at securing the well-being and rights of orphaned children. These laws ensure that orphaned children receive comprehensive support they need, including access to education, healthcare and other necessary services that will help them build a better future.”
The Chief Minister interacted with girls at the ashram and encouraged them to focus on their education and strive for success in life. He assured them that the government would provide all possible support to them so as to ensure that they have a bright future.
Sukhu directed the Deputy Commissioner, Kinnaur, to regularly inspect the Balika Ashram and promptly address the issues of the inmates. The girls expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and presented a cultural programme on the occasion. Later, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the Bodh Temple at Kalpa.
