Sub-zero temperature sparks cold wave in Una
The Una district recorded a minimum temperature of minus 0.07 degrees Celsius early on Monday morning, marking a sharp dip in temperatures. The region has also witnessed a cover of dense fog during the late evening, intensifying the cold wave.
In response to the severe cold, Una’s Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Agency, Jatin Lal, issued an advisory urging the public to take precautions. The DC recommended that elderly people and children remain indoors as much as possible. For those who need to step outside, wearing multi-layered woollen clothing and consuming a good diet, along with hot drinks, was advised.
Symptoms of cold-related health issues like frostbite, which include numbness, white or yellow spots on extremities (hands, feet, fingers, nose, or ears), should be taken seriously, with immediate medical attention sought. Additionally, the signs of hypothermia, such as excessive shivering, fatigue, memory loss, or stammering, were highlighted as critical indicators of dangerous cold exposure.
