Students of Him Academy Public School were taught about disaster management techniques during a National Service Scheme (NSS) camp organised here today.
About 75 NSS volunteers and four programme officers were present during the event.
Ashok Rangda, Executive Director, District Group Disaster Management Board, said various techniques for disaster prevention and quick action during disasters were taught to the NSS volunteers.
Rangda highlighted necessary steps to be taken to provide first aid to injured persons during an emergency.
He guided the volunteers on how to deal with serious conditions such as fractures.
He said immediate and accurate rescue operations could save lives during disasters, discussing in detail how to carry out safe rescue during water disasters. He also provided water rafting experience to students. A mock drill on safe evacuation of people trapped in buildings or high altitudes was conducted. Rangda emphasised taking precautions and the correct use of primary safety equipment while carrying out rescue operations.
