“Choose a career that you gravitate towards and work to achieve desired goals in life,” said Anil Verma, chairman-cum-managing director of Navdeep Public School, while addressing students during the science model competition organised at the school in Budhawin (Galore) near here on Wednesday.

He said there were various fields in which students could prove their excellence and be successful citizens of the society.

Parents previously held the notion that medicine and engineering were the only viable options for their kids, he said, adding that now several avenues had opened up for children, who could choose from a wide range of careers — science, arts, commerce, sports and music, among others.

He said it was the responsibility of the parents and the teachers to explore the talents and interests of children and develop their skills.

Principal Akshat Verma said the function was organised to foster students’ talents, and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their creativity.

He also urged parents to keep a regular watch on their children and encourage them to participate in extracurricular activities for their overall personality development.

He added that such events promoted confidence among students at an early age.

School president Saroj Verma and members of the teaching faculty were among those present at the event.
