State’s largest unisex fitness event promotes health and wellness
Over 150 fitness enthusiasts from across North India, including participants from Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, gathered in Shimla for the grand Shimla Fitness Championship Season 2. Hailed as Himachal’s largest unisex fitness event, the championship also served as a platform to promote an anti-drug initiative, encouraging the youth to adopt healthier lifestyles.
The competition featured three high-energy categories: arm wrestling, push-ups and planks. In the arm wrestling segment, which was open to men across weight divisions (50-60 kg, 60-70 kg, 70-80 kg, and 80+ kg) and women in an open-weight format, Siddhaant Kathuria emerged as the overall champion. He clinched first place in men’s arm wrestling and took home the grand prize of Rs 20,000, along with a trophy and certificate.
The push-ups challenge saw Bharat Sharma dominate with an impressive 119 push-ups, while Bhavya excelled in the plank competition by holding the position for an incredible 11 minutes and 20 seconds, showcasing extraordinary endurance.
Adding to the excitement, the event was graced by professional arm wrestler and national gold medallist Sanjay Deswal, who served as the referee. Deswal shared his inspiring journey with participants, emphasising the value of perseverance, fitness and discipline.
