State to buy electric buses: Dy CM
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today said Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) was celebrating its 50th year of establishment and efforts were being made to provide better services to the people.
“The Transport Department is going to buy electric buses at a cost of Rs 327 crore and the department is also going to replace the entire fleet of Volvo buses,” he stated. He informed that 250 new diesel buses and tempo travellers will also be purchased to improve services.
Agnihotri said the Transport Department has recently issued 250 auto-rickshaws and has also approved 175 private routes. “The HRTC employees are being given salary and pension on time and their pending medical dues of Rs 9 crore to its employees will also be cleared soon,” he stated. Apart from this, night allowance of about Rs 100 crore will also be given to the employees in two parts, out of which Rs 50 crore will be paid this year, he added.
He said the Jal Shakti Department is preparing 102 projects worth Rs 129 crore in Rampur, out of which one project is worth Rs 18 crore. He said that Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of some other projects in the area on November 14.
Agnihotri inaugurated various projects of the Jal Shakti Department constructed at a cost of about Rs 10 crore in Rampur Bushahr area. He inaugurated the drinking water supply scheme of Sobli Devnagar constructed at a cost of about 3.96 crore which will provide drinking water facility to about 2646 people in seven villages. He also inaugurated the scheme of strengthening various water supply schemes of Sarahan Division at a cost of Rs 1.65 crore which will benefit about 1400 of 15 villages.
He inaugurated the Gravity Water Supply Scheme of Gram Panchayat Kinnu constructed at a cost of about Rs 2.64 crore, which will provide drinking water to about 1743 people of six villages. After this, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the exhibition organised by various departments under the International Lavi Fair at Rampur Mela Ground.
