State-level master athletics meet in November
The Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Association will organise the state-level Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Championship 2024 in Bilaspur in November on the synthetic track of Luhnu ground of Bilaspur. This was stated by Ripudaman Kaushik, general secretary of Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Association at Bilaspur today. He said that the event would be held on November 9 and 10.
He said that the winners of this championship will represent Himachal in the 45th National Masters Athletics Championship in February 2025. This championship would be organised at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
He said that in two days competition, players would participate in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and 5000 m races, apart from long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot-put, discus and javelin throw etc.
Suresh Nada president of Bilaspur Masters Executive Head said that the main attraction in this year’s competition will be the All India Open Cross Country, which will be organized in Bilaspur on November 9. He added that players from any state of the country can participate in this cross country. Competitors can participate in six age groups including Junior (12-18), Senior (19-30) and Masters (31-42, 43-55, 56-65, 65+). He sad that reservation of stadium and other permissions for the competition have been received from the department.
The newly elected president of State Masters Athletics Rajkumar Rana said that a three-member committee has been formed for organising the state level championship. Suresh Nadda, Ranjit Singh Chanana and Nitin Dogra will look after the arrangements for the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Competition. He said that players could register online from October 1. He said Brij Lal Thakur, Ashwini Sharma and Dwarka Thakur will look after the arrangements of the sports committee. Vijay Kumar has been given the responsibility of the technical and dispute committee. Pawan Verma and Sanjay Saklani have been appointed for media and publicity. Dr Sushil Sharma will provide health services and first-aid. Kalpana Parmar and Champa Thakur will look after the arrangements for women’s competitions. The charge of registration and entry has been given to treasurer Somesh Sharma and Swastik.
