State govt committed to uniform development, says Vikramaditya
Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh said the state government was committed to uniform development of the state. Vikramaditya was addressing a gathering during the closing ceremony of the three-day ‘Pashu Mandi’ and Kisan Mela at Namhol in the Naina Devi Assembly constituency today.
He said roads play an important role in the development of any area and the government was expanding the road network in Bilaspur district. He said under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Rs 80 crore had been sanctioned for upgrading the Navgaon-Beri road, an important road connecting Mandi. An amount of Rs 5 crore was being spent on upgrading the Brampukhar-Ghagas road.
He added that unpaved roads would be metalled in the initial stages under the PMGSY. The minister said, “Himachal Pradesh is expected to get 3,000 km roads in the fourth phase of the PMGSY. About 830 km roads, which were not constructed in the first and second phase, would be covered during this phase, while 700 km of unpaved roads would also be paved in the state.”
Vikramaditya Singh said fairs and festivals were an integral part of the culture and it was their responsibility to preserve these. On this occasion, Kavita Sisodia presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to the minister for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Former Minister Ram Lal Thakur, Secretary state Congress Committee Vikas Thakur, president of Mela Committee Baburam Sisodia, BDC member Reema Thakur, vice president Kota Suman Thakur and Namhol panchayat pradhan Jeevan Lata were present on this occasion.
