Speeding car crashes onto roof, 4 hurt

Four youths were injured in a late-night accident on the Kiratpur-Mandi highway when their speeding car collided with a parked scooty, jumped nearly 100 metres into the air, and crashed onto the roof of a house outside the Mallori tunnel in Mandi district. The incident occurred around 1.40 am on Tuesday.

The group was returning after dropping off a friend, an Army personnel, at the bus stand in Bindravani when the car lost control. One passenger was thrown far from the vehicle, while the other three were trapped inside the mangled wreckage.

Residents and firefighters promptly rescued the victims, and they were transported to the hospital via 108 ambulance service. Three of the injured are receiving treatment at Mandi Zonal Hospital, while one critically injured youth was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh.

Mandi SP Sakshi Verma confirmed that the matter was under investigation. The shocking nature of the accident has raised concerns about speeding and safety on the national highway.
