Speaker highlights efforts towards quality education

Himachal Pradesh is making significant strides in improving the quality of education and infrastructure while ensuring equitable opportunities for underprivileged students, Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said on Tuesday. He was speaking as the chief guest at the annual prize distribution ceremony of Government Senior Secondary School, Bagdhar. Addressing students, parents and residents, Pathania emphasised the state government’s ongoing efforts to enhance educational facilities across the region to foster holistic development.

The ceremony featured vibrant cultural performances by students, captivating the audience. Speaker Pathania awarded students excelling in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities, acknowledging their hard work and achievements. He also announced financial assistance for the development of school infrastructure, including the construction of a playground and monetary rewards for participating schools and outstanding performers.

The Speaker said the state government had recruited nearly 3,500 new teachers and promoted 3,000 others during the past two years. He also mentioned plans for a new guest teacher recruitment policy to address teacher shortages in remote areas, creating employment opportunities while strengthening educational systems.

Encouraging students to pursue their goals with perseverance, the Speaker advised them to abstain from substance abuse and inspire others to do the same. He reiterated the government’s commitment to building a drug-free society with the active involvement of communities.

School Principal Anupam Sharma presented the institution’s annual report, detailing its journey from a primary school established in 1955 to its current senior secondary status. Sharma highlighted the school’s excellent academic and extracurricular achievements, underscoring its consistent performance.

Distinguished guests, including local leaders, government officials, and community members, attended the event, contributing to its success. The Speaker extended his congratulations to the school administration, students, and parents for organising the ceremony and expressed his best wishes for the school’s continued progress.
