Shoolini University has emerged among the top 500 universities of the world while being bracketed as the number one private university in the country in the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings declared today. The research-focused University has been placed in the 401-500 band of rankings up from the 501-600 band last year. Only the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, has been ranked above it in the 251-300 band, said Chancellor PK Khosla.

While 107 Indian universities featured in this year’s rankings (up from 91 last year), Shoolini stood out with a score of 47.42 .

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
