Solan councillor administered oath

DC Manmohan Sharma on Thursday administered oath to newly elected municipal councillor Amardeep. He was elected on September 29 from ward number five after defeating Congress’ Puneet Narang by 283 votes. The seat had fallen vacant after the death of e incumbent Kulbhushan Gupta in March. He was a BJP councillor. Additional DC Ajay Yadav, Deputy Mayor Mira Anand and councillors Shailender Gupta and Sushma were also present on the occasion. The strength of BJP councillors in the 17-member house has once again risen to six as against nine of the Congress and an Independent. Residents of ward number five were hopeful that his elevation will help speed up developmental activities in his ward.
