Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla presented the first Maharaja Dahir Sen Sapta Sindhu Lifetime Award to Nirmal Thakur at Raj Bhawan here today. The award was given for her exceptional work in education, literature and social work by the Sapta Sindhu Foundation, Delhi. While congratulating Nirmal Thakur, the Governor said her contribution to literature, social service had been commendable. “Even at the age of about 90, she is actively involved in social service,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to the Governor, Nirmal Thakur said receiving this award had further boosted her morale and encouraged her to strengthen the power of her pen as a writer.
