Six-day art & craft workshop concludes in Andretta

A six-day art and craft workshop for rural school students concluded at the ‘art village’ Andretta yesterday. Chief guest KG Butail, president of the Sobha Singh Memorial Art Society, appreciated the students for making different items during the workshop.
He said that all homes discarded some materials as waste, but these could be beautified as utility and decorative products.
He added that creativity among students enhanced their understanding and improved their learning and communication skills. He also appreciated master trainer Kamaljit Kaur, who taught the students how to make “Best out of the waste.”
Secretary general of the society Dr Hirday Paul Singh said that it was the first workshop organised by them this year and another workshop for rural women on Kangra folk art ‘Likhnu’ would be organised in summer.
He added that 20 students from six schools — Neugal Public Senior Secondary School; Sardar Sobha Singh Govt Senior Secondary School, Andretta; Govt Senior Secondary School, Rakkar; Giandeep Senior Secondary School; Shivalik Senior Secondary School, Panchrukhi; and Government High School, Bharwana — enthusiastically participated in the workshop.
Sobha Singh’s daughter Gurcharan Kaur, educationist Rasham Singh Patial and members of the Sobha Singh Memorial Art Society attended the concluding ceremony of the workshop.
