Shanta Kumar backs Baddi SP Ilma Afroz, writes to CM
Former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar has again come out in support of Baddi SP Ilma Afroz, who has gone on long leave. He has written a letter to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu urging him not to punish the officer for working honestly.
In the letter, Shanta Kumar reminded Sukhu that while becoming the Chief Minister, he had taken the oath of allegiance to duty and the laws.
Shanta said the Chief Minister and the government were silent about Superintendent of Police Ilma Afroz. “The fact that is coming out from social media and other sources is that the Superintendent of Police is a capable and honest officer. She has taken strict action against the illegal work of a leader’s family. That is why she was sent on leave by the government. The government has not given any clarification in this regard,” Shanta Kumar has stated in his letter.
Shanta Kumar said that this capable and hardworking daughter of a simple family had received education in an institution like Oxford. She passed the tough civil service exam in India and joined the Baddi police.
As a police officer, she performed her duties with honesty. Sand, gravel and mining mafia is becoming very influential in many places in Himachal. In this case also such news is coming that all this is happening under the pressure of some mafia, Shanta Kumar stated in his letter.
Shanta Kumar has requested the Chief Minister that Ilma Afroz should not be punished for her honesty and dedication as this will bring a bad name to Himachal Pradesh in the whole country.
In a letter written earlier, Shanta Kumar had asked the Chief Minister to clarify his stand over the issue of Baddi SP Ilma Afroz, who had gone on long leave. It was perceived that she was forced to go on leave under political pressure.
