Shahpur’s Dharkandi area to be developed as trout hub: Pathania
The Dharkandi area of the Shahpur Assembly constituency in Kangra district will be developed as a trout hub and Rs 3.03 crore will be spent for the purpose, said Deputy Chief Whip in the Himachal Assembly and Congress MLA Kewal Singh Pathania here last evening.
Pathania addressed a public meeting after inspecting various development works and the beautification work on a pond at Machhiyal in Shahpur. He said that Machhiyal village was a place associated with the religious faith of people and more than Rs 50 lakh would be spent on its beautification. “A new fish pond will be built near the Shiva temple in Sadun panchayat and the Fisheries Department has given Rs 16.68 lakh to the Jal Shakti Department for the purpose. Soon, the work on the project will start,” he added.
The Shahpur MLA said that Rs 6 crore was being spent to upgrade the Rait-Kohala road. “The work on the project is underway and about 12,000 people of Rait, Tatwani, Nerti, Salol and other adjoining panchayats will get good road connectivity. The work for the improvement of the Bhairon-Chudhatha-Yol Jhared drinking water scheme being constructed at a cost of Rs 2.20 crore is almost complete and will be inaugurated soon,” he added.
Pathania said that an action plan would be prepared for the development of Tatwani. He thanked Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for making a provision of funds for various development works in the Shahpur constituency.
Earlier, the MLA heard the grievances and problems of people at the Congress office at Rait. Former panchayat pradhan Sanjeev Balouria welcomed Pathania and other guests. Pradeep Balouria thanked the chief guest for coming to the panchayat and initiating various development works. He also took up the demands of his area with Pathania.
