Sardar Patel University organises workshop on NAAC accreditation
Sardar Patel University (SPU), Mandi, recently organised its first-ever workshop on sensitising the faculty about National Assessment and Accreditation (NAAC).
The workshop aimed to align academic, administrative and extracurricular practices with national benchmarks of excellence, empowering faculty members to contribute to the university’s accreditation process. In his inaugural address, Vice-Chancellor Lalit Kumar Awasthi emphasised the significance of accreditation, stating that it not only reflected the university’s commitment to quality education but also enhanced credibility, research opportunities and international collaborations.
Awasthi said SPU would be eligible for NAAC accreditation by April 2025, and would also pursue National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and international rankings. Former Vice-Chancellor Sunil Gupta delivered an expert talk, discussing key NAAC criteria such as curriculum, teaching, research, infrastructure and governance.
He guided the faculty on preparing the Self-Study Report (SSR), a critical component of the accreditation process. SPU PRO Dr Gaurav Kapoor said the workshop provided an opportunity for faculty members to interact with Gupta, who addressed their queries and shared practical insights on the accreditation journey.
“This initiative reflects the university’s dedication to fostering a culture of quality and excellence,” he added.
