A district-level Narco Coordination Center (NCORD) meeting was held here today to deliberate on the issue of increased drug abuse in the district. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap. He directed all officers of the departments concerned and stakeholders to coordinate with each other to put a tab on the increasing trend of drug abuse.

Issues related to drug trafficking and their solutions were discussed in detail at the meeting. It was pointed out that women in the rural areas should be made aware as ‘mahila mandals’ along with ‘yuvak mandals’ could play a crucial role in this fight against drugs.

Deputy Commissioner said that a workshop would be organised in one of the colleges of Shimla in October to discuss the issue threadbare.

Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi spoke about the work being done by the Police Department against drug abuse in Shimla district. He said that in 2024 alone, about 400 people involved in drug trade had been arrested in Shimla district till now.
