Roadways conductor, driver face probe over anti-Rahul audio clip
The driver and the conductor of a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus had to face an inquiry after a passenger purportedly played an audio clip in their vehicle censuring Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and some other Opposition leaders.
The complaint was filed on November 5 by Samuel Prakash, a co-passenger, with the Chief Minister’s Office, from where it was sent to the Regional Manager, HRTC.
A notice served on the two on November 25 mentioned that it was not appropriate to play any kind of audio against political figures in government vehicles, and that it was the duty of the staff to prevent such acts, which they didn’t. They were asked to file a reply within three days.
“We had sought an explanation from the driver and conductor after a passenger lodged a complaint,” said Vinod Sharma, Regional Manager, HRTC.
“In their reply, our staff claimed that no such audio was played and the complainant had not provided any evidence to substantiate his allegations. So, the complaint stands closed,” Sharma said.
“We just wanted to make sure that the alleged content was not played from the audio system of our bus. And if any passenger was playing it on their mobile phone, our driver and conductor can’t be held responsible,” added Sharma.
BJP leader Sudhir Sharma shared the explanation letter on the Facebook to target the Congress government.
