Kinnaur Acting Deputy Commissioner Shashank Gupta chaired a meeting on Wednesday at his office to address road safety concerns in the district.
He also announced that a free eye check-up camp would be organised on December 26 and 27 at Regional Hospital, Reckong Peo. It would be mandatory for drivers of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) and government vehicles to undergo eye tests. This directive will also apply to taxi union drivers.
Dr Gupta urged officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) to identify accident-prone areas and black spots in the district to help save precious lives.
The meeting also included a detailed discussion on the fitness of private school buses and emphasised strict compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Sonam Negi, Regional Transport Officer Jaspal and officials and staff from the Public Works Department were among those present at the meeting.
