RKMV Shimla wins 1st place in Women's Boxing Championship
RKMV Shimla secured first place, MLSM Sundernagar secured second, and St Bede’s College Shimla won the third position at the Himachal Pradesh University Women's Boxing Championship held at Sundernagar. Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani attended the closing ceremony of the championship organised by Gayatri College of Education, at the sports ground of Senior Secondary School in BBMB Colony, Sundernagar on Thursday. As the chief guest, he honoured the winning athletes by presenting them with medals.
Congratulating the athletes, Rajesh Dharmani expressed immense pride, highlighting how girls were making a mark in sports like boxing. He also mentioned the recent victory of Vanshika, a resident of Jwalamukhi, who won the Under-19 World Championship, bringing recognition to Himachal Pradesh and India on a global level. Dharmani said that the increasing participation of girls in sports, including athletics, handball, and basketball, was a cause for celebration, as many of them are excelling at national and international levels.
The minister also shared that the state government was taking significant steps to promote sports and athletes. The government has increased the reward amounts for athletes excelling at international and national levels.
Gayatri College's manager, Pankaj Soni, stated that nearly 78 women boxers from 18 teams across Himachal Pradesh participated in the championship.
Former Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sohan Lal, APMC Mandi Chairman Sanjeev Guleria, Director of Technical Education Akshay Sood, SDM Sundernagar Amar Negi, DSP Bharat Bhushan, and other distinguished guests were present.

52 kg: Ritu Negi (STBC Shimla) – Gold, Divyanshi (Bilaspur) – Silver, Anjana and Bronze, Deepika (HPU Shimla)
54 kg: Shreya (MLSM) – Gold, Palak (Sanjouli) – Silver, Mahak (Palampur) and Bronze, Anjali (Shimla)
