Revise draft rules for Himachal homestays, Tourism Dept told

A meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee, constituted to draft the HP Homestay Rules, 2024, was held under the chairmanship of Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan here today.
The sub-committee include Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh, Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh and Town and Country Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani as memberss. Valuable suggestions were given for the proposed draft of the HP Homestay Rules, 2024, which aim at promoting tourism in the state.
It was decided at the meeting that the Tourism Department would revise the draft rules based on the issues discussed and present the revised draft in the next Cabinet sub-committee meeting.
Director, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mansi Sahay Thakur apprised the sub-committee about various issues related to the draft rules.
Hoteliers have been demanding that their businesses are getting adversely impacted due to homestays, with many of them being run illegally without registration with the Tourism Department. The government will now review the issue so that people running homestays do not violate norms and the government also does not lose revenue.
