Revenue Minister lays foundation stone for development projects in Nichar

On the first day of his visit to Kinnaur district, Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development, and Public Grievances Redressal Minister Jagat Singh Negi laid the foundation stone for the Vishnu Narayan Community Hall. It is to be constructed at Kache village of Ponda gram panchayat in Nichar subdivision at an estimated cost of Rs 62 lakh. He also inaugurated the drinking water scheme for Kache-Kangos, which has been extended at a cost of Rs 36.35 lakh.

During the event, the minister also addressed the concerns of the local people from Kache and Vikasnagar villages, assuring that all legitimate demands would be fulfilled in a phased manner.

Addressing the gathering, Negi highlighted that under the able leadership of CM Sukhu, comprehensive development of tribal districts of the state is being ensured. He noted that the state government is working toward economic self-reliance of the people, and the CM’s journey of struggle serves as an inspiration to the masses.

The Horticulture Minister emphasised the state government’s commitment to providing land ownership rights to the impoverished and marginalised sections of Kinnaur under the Forest Rights Act of 2006. He stated that efforts are underway to raise awareness among the local population in this regard. He highlighted that the Right to Information Act, 2005, the MGNREGA Act of 2005, and the Nau-Tod Act of 1968 were initiatives by the then Congress government, aimed at empowering disadvantaged sections of society.

Negi added that the Congress government has introduced numerous welfare schemes for the tribal communities, benefitting the local population and strengthening rural infrastructure.

He also praised the efforts of officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department, along with machinery operators and labourers for their dedicated work at Nathpa and Nigulsari sliding points. He assured them of full cooperation from the district administration.

Following this, the Revenue Minister inaugurated the entrance gate and seating area of Shri Narayan Temple in Buri gram panchayat for the convenience of the public. He also inaugurated the community hall at the Buddhist Temple.

During the event, the minister laid the foundation stone for the community hall of Nag Devta Temple in Buri and for the filter tank being constructed by the Jal Shakti Department. Later, he also listened to the concerns of the people of Ponda and assured them of consideration of their legitimate demands.

Among those present on the occasion were State Women Congress Secretary Tara Muyaan, Nichar Block Congress President Bir Singh Negi, Block Women Congress President Asha Kumari, Chief Medical Officer Sonam Negi, Nichar Block Development Officer Pyare Lal, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajkumar, Executive Engineer of Electricity Department Tashi Negi, local Panchayat President Amitabh Negi, Buri Gram Panchayat President Chunit Dolma, and other Congress party officials and workers.
