Local MP Kangana Ranaut has called for the restoration of the controversial farm laws. She said that such measures were essential for the prosperity of farmers of the nation.
Kangana, while speaking at the closing ceremony at a local fair at Gohar in Mandi yesterday, emphasised the importance of the farm laws for the farming community.
The three farm laws, framed by the Central Government to ensure farmers’ welfare, were repealed following widespread protests. However, Kangana said that opposition to the laws was primarily limited to a few states. “Farmers are the pillars of our nation’s development. I urge them to come forward and demand the restoration of these laws in their greater interest,” she added.
Kangana exuded confidence in the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. She said that the country was on the path of progress. She added that restoring the farm laws would ensure better financial stability and growth of farmers, ultimately benefiting the agricultural sector.
Meanwhile, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi today slammed Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut for claiming that “the Himachal Government diverts loans and grants to Sonia Gandhi”. He said that Kangana had made the people of Himachal a laughing stock in the rest of the country with her outlandish statements. “People elsewhere must be wondering what kind of person we have elected as our MP who doesn’t even have basic knowledge,” he added.
Negi said that the voters of the Mandi parliamentary constituency must be regretting their decision to elect Kangana as their MP. “Even an illiterate person doesn’t make such kind of statements as she does. As an MP, she should be far more responsible and measured while making statements,” he alleged.
The minister said, “The media should not give time and space to such absurd statements. If the media keeps playing it up, it raises a question mark on its credibility as well,” he added.
