Rehan gets new police station
A new police station at Rehan in the Nurpur police district was inaugurated on Wednesday by local MLA and of State Planning Commission Vice Chairman Bhawani Singh Pathania.
Rehan is the main town in the Fatehpur Assembly constituency and a police check post was upgraded to the police station in January. Thirteen posts of police personnel have also been created through government notification. Earlier, a police check post under the Nurpur police station was situated around 20 km from Rehan.
Sixteen gram panchayats will come under the new police station. While the state government has notified 13 posts for the police station, the district police administration has deployed 21 personnel from the Police Lines to make it fully functional. The police station has been housed in the local Panchayat Bhawan.
Inaugurating the new facility, Pathania said the police station would help in curbing the menace of drug peddling, besides checking other crime in the area. He exhorted the people to cooperate with the police in their fight against the drug mafia.
On the occasion, Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan briefed a gathering about the working of the new police station and facilities available here.
The Nurpur police district comprising four Assembly segments of Nurpur, Jawali, Fatehpur and Indora now has six police stations at Nurpur, Rehan, Fatehpur, Jawali, Indora and Damtal.
