Recover public money spent on six CPSs, says Kangra MP
State BJP vice-president and Kangra MP Rajeev Bhardwaj today said that the public money spent on the six Chief Parliamentary Secretaries (CPSs), whose appointment the High Court of Himachal had termed as unconstitutional, should be recovered. The six MLAs were appointed as CPSs though the courts had declared the posts as unconstitutional in the past as well. He made a courtesy call to the Governor.
Bhardwaj, while talking to mediapersons outside the Raj Bhawan, said that the appointment of the six CPSs was a clear case of the misuse of public money by the Congress government. “In fact, the CPSs should have resigned on moral grounds once the matter was taken to court but they waited for the court to order their removal,” he added.
He said, “The party high command and the senior state leadership will decide the future course of action after the appointment of the CPSs was declared unconstitutional but I am of the firm opinion that their appointments amounted to the misuse of public funds.” He added right from the day the CPSs were appointed, the BJP had termed the decision as wrong but the Congress government did not remove them.
Bhardwaj said, “The Congress came to power on the basis of false guarantees and 22 lakh women between the age of 18 to 60 years are still awaiting the grant of Rs 1,500 per month. The Congress had promised to provide jobs to one lakh youth every year, besides 300 units of free power.”
He added that no discussions were held with the Governor on the political situation or the removal of the CPSs by the High Court. Bhardwaj was accompanied by former minister Rajeev Sehjal, Sanjeev Katwal and other BJP leaders.
