Raise honorarium from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000: HPU teachers’ body
A delegation of the Himachal Pradesh Teacher Welfare Association (HPUTWA) has demanded Himachal Pradesh University authorities that they should raise the honorarium of department heads and directors to Rs 5,000 from Rs 500.
They raised the demand when a delegation of the association, led by Dr Nitin Vyas, met Vice-Chancellor Sat Prakash Bansal.
During the meeting, the association also demanded that associate professors and assistant professors be paid travel allowance equivalent to that of professors.
They also demanded that the honorarium for exam invigilators be raised from Rs 250 to at least Rs 500 during examination periods.
In response to these demands, the VC announced the constitution of a six-member committee, which would be chaired by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Rajinder Verma.
The committee will also include the Dean of Studies, Controller of Examinations, Financial Officer, Dean of Student Welfare and representatives from HPUTWA and HPUTA.
This committee will make recommendations to the finance committee regarding the issues discussed in the meeting.
HPUTWA also requested for allocation of houses for teachers to be made twice a year, a suggestion that was readily accepted by the VC, who ordered immediate notification.
