A Punjab resident was arrested with 19.19 grams of chitta (heroin) in Shimla, the police said here today.

The suspect was identified as Jaskaran (28), a resident of Mansa, Punjab.

The accused was arrested from Shogi, 13 km from the state’s capital, when the police stopped a Punjab Roadways bus for checking. During the checking, cops found the contraband from his possession, after which he was arrested, with the heroin being seized from his possession. Shimla SP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said a case under Section 21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act had been registered against the suspect, and further investigation was underway.
