In a startling case of financial fraud, a family has been accused of duping a local resident of Rs 5 crore with promises of securing a petrol pump. The victim alleged that he paid the sum to the accused but got neither the petrol pump, nor a refund.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS against seven persons of a family residing at New Shankar Garden here, in connection to the alleged fraud.

However, no arrests have been made so far. Police officials have said they have issued notices to the accused, compelling them to participate in the investigation. If the accused fail to respond or cooperate, police teams are prepared to make arrests to further the inquiry.
