The Press Information Bureau (PIB), in collaboration with the Chamba District Administration, will organise a media workshop titled “Vartalap” on Tuesday. The workshop will focus on disaster management, aiming to strengthen dialogue between government agencies and media professionals on disaster preparedness, mitigation and response.

Chamba Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal will preside over the inaugural session as the chief guest. Key speakers from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Armed Forces, District Disaster Management Authority and other departments will share insights on disaster management strategies.

The workshop will feature multiple sessions, each followed by an open Q&A forum, allowing media professionals to actively engage and voice their expectations regarding the government’s information delivery mechanisms. The event will serve as a platform to exchange ideas about government policies and initiatives on disaster management.

“Vartalap” aims to enhance media capacity at the block, sub-district and district levels. It will foster a streamlined information flow between PIB and various media outlets, ensuring timely access to official communications. The workshop also seeks to gather feedback on key policy issues and establish direct communication channels between PIB’s regional offices and local journalists.

This interactive platform is expected to enhance media outreach and strengthen disaster management efforts through informed journalism.
