Prepare disaster supply kits in advance for risk reduction: Experts
The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority is spearheading “Samarth 2024,” an initiative aimed at raising awareness about disaster risk reduction. This campaign features a series of activities designed to educate the public about disaster management across the state.
As part of Samarth 2024, artists from the Department of Information and Public Relations are engaging local communities through street plays. Today, members of the Bhagwati Cultural Mandal Shantha performed at ITI Chaupal and Jhiknipul, addressing critical topics such as earthquakes, landslides, floods, and fire hazards.
Additional performances by Swar Sadhna Kala Manch in Chidgaon and Jangla, along with Pooja Kala Manch in Seri village and Bharoi village, focused on the importance of disaster preparedness.
During performances, artists emphasised that during emergencies, access to basic necessities may be severely limited. They encouraged families to prepare disaster supply kits in advance, which can be lifesaving during such events.
