Pratibha leads protest in Shimla
The Congress staged a protest outside the Raj Bhawan against the Central Government for allegedly giving favours to the Adani Group.
As Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, ministers and party MLAs are in Dharamsala for the winter session of the Assembly, it was HPCC president Pratibha Singh who led the protest along with state Mahila Congress president Jenab Chandel and Municipal Corporation Mayor Surinder Chauhan.
She said, “Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have raised the issue of undue favours being granted to the Adani Group but the Centre chose to ignore it and no debate has been held till now.”
Pratibha lamented that the Central Government had ignored the demands of the farmers, 700 of whom had lost their lives in the agitation. “It is painful to see farmers sitting on dharna in biting cold while the Centre remaining indifferent towards their concerns,” she added.
State Mahila Congress president Janeb Chandel also addressed the party workers. “During its 10-year rule, the BJP has taken anti-people decisions that have led to a lot of resentment. The voice of the Opposition is being crushed in the Parliament,” she added.
The Mayor alleged, “The BJP has been trying to destabilise the state government but the people of Himachal gave it a befitting reply by ensuring the defeat of the rebel MLAs.”
