The Lakhdata Committee has vacated the possession of the alleged illegal structure it had built near Hamirpur. The committee removed its board from the structure and installed a board regarding a rain-shelter.

The Land Revenue Officer of Hamirpur had earlier said that the land in the Matahani area of Daduhi panchayat, where the ‘majar’ of Sufi saint Lakhdata Peer is situated, belonged to the state government and not the Waqf Board. The Lakhdata Committee had said that it had no objection to the government operating the constructed structure.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
