Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the Majra police station team conducted a raid on Thursday evening at a rented room in Dhaula Kuan, Sirmaur, leading to the recovery of illegal firearms and the arrest of multiple suspects. The police received information that a resident, identified as Mir Kasim from Melyon village of Paonta Sahib, was allegedly in possession of illegal weapons at his rented residence in Dhaula Kuan.

Based on the input, the police raided Mir Kasim’s room and conducted a thorough search. The operation resulted in the seizure of a pistol (with magazine) and 20 live rounds of ammunition. Subsequently, an FIR was filed against Kasim under the Arms Act, and he was promptly taken into custody. He was presented in the court on Saturday, and remanded to police custody for three days, until November 4.

Further probe revealed potential links to other individuals involved in the case, leading to the arrest of four other suspects — Kamil Ansari of Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur; Amjad alias Bhura of Saharanpur, UP; Vishwas of Bilaspur, Haryana; and Owais Ansari of Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur.
