The Himachal Pradesh Government Pensioners’ Association convened a meeting here on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by the association president SL Gupta.

Addressing the gathering, Gupta alleged that the state government had adopted an indifferent attitude towards the demand of the pensioners of the state.

He said, for the past two years, the association had been demanding revised financial benefits to the pensioners who had retired between 2016 and 2022. However, the government had failed to accord these benefits to them. Gupta said even the High Court had rejected the state government’s petition for not granting these retirement benefits to the beneficiaries, and imposed a cost of Rs 25,000 on the government.

He demanded the government to constitute a Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) immediately so that the demands could be put forward before the government.

He also demanded that the payment of due medical bills be made to pensioners, and the disbursement of the monthly pension on the first day of every month be ensured.
