The state government today banned tandem paragliding and other flights at Bir-Billing in Kangra district from June 15 to 17 in view of the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Dharamsala.

Besides, the government also banned flying of drones and hot-air balloons in the district. However, drones could be used in extraordinary circumstances only for security reasons.

A government official said that there would be no paragliding at Bir-Billing and other places in Kangra during this period. Deputy Commissioner Nipun Jindal had already issued orders in this regard, he added.

The official said that tourists had been asked not to take any chance and in case of any violation, stringent action would be taken. Necessary instructions had been issued to the SDM and the DSP of Baijnath for the implementation of the orders. Travel agencies had been directed not to makebookings.
