The parking along the narrow roads in New Shimla is resulting in frequent traffic jams. This is despite the fact that schools are still closed and the tourist influx during the weekdays is negligible. The loading and unloading of vehicles near shops, especially in busy markets, is the biggest reason for traffic snarls. The traffic police must take action. – Ahana Negi, New Shimla

Tourists throw caution to the wind

tourists visiting Shimla are too casual about adhering to Covid safety guidelines as they can be seen roaming around without masks. Despite police urging people to wear masks and ensure social distancing, there seems to have been little impact. This is endangering the safety of locals who have been very disciplined in abiding by social distancing norms. The police must penalise such offenders as the administration cannot risk the safety of the locals. – Samyukta Thakur, Shimla
