Open littering in Shimla
HEAPS of garbage can be spotted lying on slopes by the side of the road leading to Rajiv Gandhi Government Degree College, Shimla. The garbage — including plastic water bottles — is recklessly being thrown here, greatly harming the environment. Also, the garbage gives off a foul smell, inconveniencing passers-by. The authorities concerned should take cognisance of the situation and remove the garbage from here. Those who carelessly litter public places should also be fined to end this menace.

Students struggle amid snowfall
THE examinations of schoolchildren are going on. However, due to fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of the state, many students are facing problems in reaching the examination centres. There are many areas where electricity has been disrupted due to the weather, leaving students struggling to study at night. The authorities should find a solution to this problem, so that the future of the children is not affected.
