One held with 8 gram heroin
Shimla: A significant narcotics seizure took place in Theog, when Vikas Verma, 29, was apprehended with 8 gram of chitta (heroin) while driving from Nangaldevi to Dhamandri. The police stopped Verma's car (HP 63A 9698) during a routine patrol and found the illicit substance in his possession, leading to his arrest. Theog Deputy Superintendent of Police Siddharth Sharma confirmed the incident and stated that a case under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against Verma at the Theog police station.
JCB machine, four tractors seized
Nurpur: Cracking the whip, the Indora police seized one JCB machine and 10 tractor-trailers being used for illegal mining activities at Uleharian, Mand-Indora and Sanor. The police seized the JCB machine and four out of total 10 tractor-trailers being used in extracting minerals from local rivulet, and one trailer was released by the police on account of having legal mining documents. The remaining five tractor-trailers were fined Rs 5,000 each for transporting extracted minerals without valid mining documents.
One booked for embezzling grains
Dharamsala: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has booked Sanjeev Kumar, in-charge of the wholesale store of HP State Civil Supplies Corporation at Dehra, for the alleged embezzlement of foodgrains meant to supplied to people through the PDS in the state. SP (Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau) Balbir Thakur said an inquiry found that 1,500 quintal foodgrains meant to the distributed to people in the Dehra region were found to be missing from the Dehra HP State Civil Supplies Corporation store, being run under the charge of Sanjeev Kumar, the suspect. A case has been registered.
