One-day camp organised for sanitation workers in Sirmaur

As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign running from September 14 to October 2, a one-day camp was organised today for sanitation workers (Safai Mitras) of Sirmaur district at the SFDA Hall, Nahan. The camp, which focused on the safety and well-being of sanitation workers, was presided over by Additional District Magistrate LR Verma.

Speaking on the occasion, Verma highlighted various activities being held during the Swachhata Hi Seva fortnight. These include cleanliness awareness rallies led by schoolchildren, identification of dirty hotspots and clean-up drives. He emphasised that such initiatives had the potential to bring a positive change in public perception towards cleanliness.

The camp saw the participation of 350 Safai Mitras from different parts of the district. Verma mentioned that the camp aimed to address health concerns of sanitation workers, who were actively involved in waste management and cleanliness.

A health check-up camp was organised by the Health Department wherein 82 individuals underwent medical examinations. The health team conducted blood tests for 60 individuals, checked sugar levels of 80 individuals and monitored the blood pressure of 82 participants. After the tests, free medicines were distributed among the needy. Besides, 33 Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) samples and 15 TB samples were collected for further testing at the camp. The AYUSH Department also screened 167 people and provided free medicines to them. The camp also included an Aadhaar renewal facility through Aadhaar details of 25 individuals were updated.

Earlier, the District Development Officer, Abhishek Mittal, welcomed the chief guest by presenting him with a traditional shawl and cap. He also gave a detailed overview of various activities being undertaken by the department under the Swachhata Hi Seva-2024 campaign.
