Now, postmen to issue digital life certificates
The Department of Posts will issue digital life certificates in Himachal. It has signed an agreement with the Pensioners Welfare Department under which postmen will issue digital life certificates (DLCs) to pensioners on their doorsteps.
“The postmen working with the Department of Posts will visit each and every house in Himachal Pradesh and scan the faces and fingers of the pensioners. They will then make DLCs,” said Sanjay Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Post Offices, Hamirpur, on Wednesday.
He said that now the pensioners would not have to submit any kind of paper to get the digital life certificate, which would be easily issued at home. The pensioner would have to provide only their Aadhaar Card numbers and pension details.
Sanjay said, “The India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) has tied up with the Pensioner Welfare Department in this regard.” He added that a campaign had been started to issue DLCs in 800 cities and towns across India.
The postmen would charge Rs 70, including the Goods and Services Tax, to generate DLCs.
