Notification issued for upgradation of Una MC to municipal council

The Gazette Notifications for the upgradation of Una Municipal Committee to Municipal Council and Bangana Gram Panchayat to Nagar Panchayat have been issued. A two week period has been given to residents of these areas to communicate objections, if any to the Principal Secretary, Urban Development, through the Una Deputy Commissioner.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jatin Lal, in a communiqué issued here today said, “The notifications have been issued under Section 3(2) of the Himachal Pradesh Municipal Act, 1994, and have been published in the eGazette.” He said objections received after 14 days of the publication of the notifications in the eGazette would be rejected.

At present, Una city has 11 municipal wards. However, in order to upgrade it to the level of municipal council, 11 complete and four partial areas of panchayats surrounding Una city have been proposed to be included in the Una Municipal Council area.

According to the notification, the new panchayats, which are proposed to be included in Una city, are complete areas of Jhalera, Kotla Khurd, Ajnoli, Kotla Kalan Lower, Kotla Kalan Upper, Lalsingi, Malahat, Bhadolian Khurd, Rampur, Kuthar Khurd and Kuthar Kalan. Besides, selected portions of panchayats namely Rainsary Upper and Rainsary Lower, Arniala and Jalgran have been proposed to be included in Una city.

In a separate notification, it has been proposed that the Bangana Gram Panchayat be brought under the ambit of the urban area and upgraded to nagar panchayat. The villages, which would be included in the Bangana Nagar Panchayat as per the notification include Saloh, Nayali Upper, Nayali Lower, Nargdu, Awahad, Tehi, Bout, Bhalet, Muchali Khaas, Bangana, Ghado, Chilli, Jhabrani and Tamlet.

The DC said the notification for constituting the Bangana Nagar Panchayat was also published in the eGazette. He said objections from the public, if any can be filed within two weeks from the publication of the notification. He said written objections had to be addressed to the Principal Secretary, Urban Development, Government of Himachal Pradesh, and submitted at the office of the Una Deputy Commissioner.
