Shimla, September 4

The HP High Court restrained an adventure sports operator from carrying water sports and allied activities in the Kol Dam Project Reservoir, Tattapani, till further orders.

During the course of hearing, it was informed to the court that the motor boat driver of one Rattan Adventure did not possess a valid power boat handling certificate from the National Institute of Water Sports, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, as mandated by condition 6(5) (c) of the Himachal Pradesh, Water Sports and Allied Activities Rules, 2021.

A division Bench comprising Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Satyen Vaidya passed this order on a Public Interest Litigation alleging that the adventure sports operator has been carrying out the business without fulfilling the rules framed by the state government, putting the lives of people in danger.

After hearing the matter, the court restrained him from carrying water sports and allied activities in the Kol Dam reservoir and listed the matter on October 25.
