The district administration on Friday directed its officials not to register institutions with the title ‘Press Council’ or ‘Indian Press Council’.

Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh, while speaking to reporters here, referred to a special advisory issued by the Central Government aimed at preventing the misuse of the Press Council of India’s name.

He instructed all SDMs, DPROs and other officials concerned not to register any institution or organisation that “uses the title ‘Press Council’ or ‘Indian Press Council’.
