NIT student booked for harassment

A controversy erupted on the campus of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur, on Wednesday evening after a girl accused a fellow student of making indecent remarks.

It has been alleged that the accused called the girl late at night and he had been misbehaving with her from the past few days.

Many students gathered near the main gate of the NIT and demanded justice for the girl student. The police had to intervene on Wednesday night to control the situation.

Superintendent of Police Bagat Singh Thakur said a case was registered against the accused student on the basis of a complaint of a girl student of NIT, Hamirpur on Thursday.

Stating that both students were of the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of the institute, the SP said that an investigation was initiated in the matter.
