Nine-year-old raped in Nalagarh

A nine-year-old girl was raped by a youth, who was her cousin's friend, in Nalagarh on Tuesday. The accused, along with the victim's cousin, lured the victim and her six-year-old sister when they were alone at home by giving them some eatables.

The victim and her sister were taken to a deserted forest area where an attempt was made to rape the six-year-old. However, she started crying, following which the accused abandoned her. Later, the accused raped the nine-year old girl.

Parents of the victim, who are migrant workers, were away for work when the incident occurred. The family is demanding justice and arrest of the accused, who is absconding.

The aggrieved family hails from Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. The father, who works in a private company, was apprised of the incident by the victim when he returned from work yesterday evening. Later, he reported the matter to the police.

The police had registered a case and requisitioned a team of forensic science experts to collect evidence from the crime spot. The victim was taken to Nalagarh community health centre for treatment and medical examination, said Baddi Additional SP Ashok Verma.
