Shimla, September 4
Transport Minister Bikram Singh said the government had decided to operate night buses on three routes within the state from September 5. The Chamba-Shimla-Chamba, Manali-Shimla-Manali, and Dharamsala-Shimla-Dharamsala routes have been indentified for the services.
On the Chamba-Shimla-Chamba route, the buses will operate everyday from Chamba at 5pm and from Shimla at 6.30pm; on the Manali-Shimla-Manali route, the bus will start from Manali at 7 pm and from Shimla at 8 pm; and on the Dharamsala-Shimla-Dharamsala route, the bus will operate from Dharamsala at 9.30 pm and from Shimla, also at 9.30 pm.
“Based on the number of passengers in these buses, the government will look at starting the service in other areas as well,” the minister said.
He said directions had been issued to the regional and sub-divisional managers to provide hand sanitisers, masks, gloves and face shields to the employees. — TNS
