National Master Games to be held in Dharamsala in April
The National Master Games are set to be organised at Dharamsala in Kangra district in April 2025, while the state championships of the Master Games are scheduled from December 13 at the Luhanu sports complex in Bilaspur.
This was stated by Himachal Pradesh Master Games Association president Vinod Kumar, who convened a meeting of the state executive body of the association at Hotel Hamir here on Sunday.
He said the state edition was earlier scheduled for November. However, the dates were changed following the festive season, he added.
He said 600 players aged 37-70 and above are set to participate in 18 games in the state championship. Players who wanted to participate in the games had to pay nominal fee of Rs 1,000 per game for registration and Rs 500 for additional game, he added.
Kumar said the last date of registration was December 5.
The association provided an opportunity for sportspersons of a higher age groups to keep themselves healthy and competitive, he added.
He said the association had been organising the championship from 2011, and participation in the games was increasing with every edition.
Chief Coach and association director of sports BC Kaushal said the association had decided to rope in players who had achieved distinction in various games.
Many international players from the state and country had participated in various editions of the championship held by the association, he added. MGA state secretary Vijay Sharma, district president Suresh Handa, national-level hockey players Rakesh Handa, Subhash Kaushal, Prem Kumar and members of the Hamirpur and Kangra units of MGA were among those present at the event.
