Himachal Pradesh Assembly’s Monsoon Session: 3-tier security, six companies of police deployed

Six companies of the police, along with Home Guard and Quick Reaction Team (QRT), have been deployed to maintain security as well as law and order during the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly’s Monsoon Session starting here on Tuesday.

Shimla Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi who visited the Legislative Assembly here today to take stock of the security arrangements said the district police were fully prepared for the Assembly Session. No one will be allowed to enter the premises of the Vidhan Sabha without a valid entry pass issued by the Legislative Assembly, he added.

He said a three-tier security will be activated during the session. Proper arrangements for parking and traffic management have been made to ensure smooth commencement of the session, he added.

Meanwhile, Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a meeting with the officials of the district administration ahead of the session. He directed the magistrates appointed for the Assembly session to establish effective coordination with the police administration to ensure that no issues regarding law and order arise.

He said the district administration was committed to maintaining law and order during the monsoon session. The DC added that the administration will keep a close eye on law and order situation during the session.

He also said no protest or demonstration will be allowed near the Assembly area during the session. The demonstrations can only be held at Chaura Maidan that too with mandatory prior permission, he added.
